Golden Globe Prediction

Few hours to go before the ceremony begins and here I am making some quick predictions on the winner for the movies category:

Best Motion Picture - Drama
Social Network: It exceeds expectations from the audiences and critics with its story and strong performance. Not forgetting a fine work by David Fincher. The King's Speech might be a crowd pleaser, but it lacks its appeal to the audience. It is time to award the best picture to the movie which is critcally and financial acclaimed!!

Best Actress - Drama
Natalie Portman for Black Swan - Boy oh boy....i don't know how to describe her performance because she is outstanding in every sense and every angle. It is time for her to be recognised as a good actress as she was snubbed a few times. From slimming down to intensive training for ballet to powerful performance, she deserve it.

Best Actor - Drama
Colin Firth - The King's Speech
He was snubbed last year though he was damn great in A single man. But now he is back and this time he plays King George. This is an uphill challenge as it is not easy to emulate a King. Well, Hellen Mirren scored an Oscar for The Queen, so Colin Firth might just nick it.
James Franco is outstanding in 127 hours, who knows, he might just snatched it again from Colin Firth

Best Motion Picture - Comedy
The Kids Are Alright - Outstanding film comes with original plots and not forgetting daring and powerful performance, they deserve to win it. I don't see any other films deserve it.

Best Actress - Comedy
Annette Benning - The Kids Are Alright
It is hard to choose between her and Julianne Moore as they produce daring performance. To get an award, you must be daring (look back to all the previous winners!). Well, Anne Hathaway is daring enough in Love and Other Drugs, but the movie was critically panned. Let's hope that she will wins it.

Best Actor - Comedy
Jake Gyllenhaal - Love and Other Drugs
Powerful and daring performance. Has great chemistry with the opponent. Well done!

No time for comment. Just the winners for the below categories.

Best Supporting Actress
Amy Adams - The Fighter

Best Supporting Actor
Christian Bale - The Fighter

Best Animated Feature
Toy Story 3

Best Foreign Language Film
I Am Love

Best Director
David Fincher - The Social Network (Man...I hope Darren Aronofsky wins as well)

Best Screenplay
Aaron Sorkin - The Social Network

Best Original Score
Hans Zimmer - Inception ( I hope that A.R. Rahman will win for 127 Hours)

Best Song
Bound to You - Burlesque

That's all for now and do check out the winner list tomorrow...

Bye!!

Year 2010: From an average to student to the owner of a new house...

Wow, looking at my last blog, it was already like 9 months ago...I have no idea how things moved so fast in the next 9 months....Even me..myself can't imagine things can move that fast...

Looking back on the year of 2010, I was having a slow start as I was affected by my sub-par examination result as well as my eczema problems...At that time, I thought that it would be a bad year for me and things got worse when I was about to extend my length of my studies for another 1 year which really pushed me to the very low point of my life.

But things get a little bit better when I was given a chance to finish off my studies without extend my studies to a year with a little bit of gamble that I would have to take extra subjects. I was struggling for the entire semester as I would have to repeat the subject I failed two years ago as well as taking additional subject which I hate the most...With efficient effort and praying for a smooth sailing in my exam, my prayers was answered as I passed all the subjects.

I was given green lit that I could do cross institutional studies which I will be working full time and study for the one last subject at the same time. At that moment, I questioned my ability which I am not sure if I could really go through with it. If i fail it, I might need to fly back and study. I never thought too much but enrolled in it. I flew back to Malaysia and I work and study at the same time.

I will take that as my first full time job and I was given the post as the executive supervisor. For the first two weeks, I had nothing much to do and I was wondering how am I going to past through the time....few weeks later, I was given projects that I have to handle by myself and I was dumbfounded when I was given a list of about 40 projects that I have to handle. Luckily I have my colleague that helped me and gave me some useful knowledge to tackle the problem. At night, I would hide myself in the room and study. For the past few months, I have no idea what the hell I was studying. I was clear about the concept, but I could not really the assignments and tutorial questions. I was under enormous pressure when my parents decided to book the flight ticket back to Hobart for my graduation even though I haven't sit for the exam. I have no choice but to excel in my exam and thank God that I pass the exam and I manage to graduate.

I was in sigh of relief as if I can feel that I have put down a huge burden and I can fully concentrate in my work. Then I had a 10 days break which I managed to get back to the beautiful Hobart as well as Melbourne. I managed to catch up with my friends and had a lot of fun. Before the year ends, I was given an opportunity to buy a property. I made up my mind to buy it in 4 days. I know it is a bit exaggerate on the process on buying it but yea, I manage to run through a deal and signed the property contract on the last day of 2010.

It was an amazing year for me and I am really glad that things has been going through very will for me. I appreciate what God has given me and given me the ability and strength to make some critical decision which might chance or affect my little part of life. I really hope to have a nice year for this year and wishing everyone especially the readers all the best as well as best of luck.

Review: Kick Ass

"KICK ASS" KICKS ASS!!!

There it is, that's my review for this movie...Lolzz....just kidding. But that few words does tells you how great this movie is. It is like an all-rounder movie where I could not really see where the flaw is. Why couldn't all the superhero be like this...No offense to Spider-Man, Batman...(excluding Iron Man because he is quite funny as well)...

Kick Ass is an action-comedy which is funny, witty, twisting and not forgetting ultraviolent. This story is about a normal human being asking questions of why is no superhero in real life? Adding in some interesting subplot and twist making this movie having a very good and interesting plot. So, plot is a TICK!

Aaron Johnson gave a standing ovation performance who portrays Kick Ass himself. He gave the life to the character where ultimately succeed in every way and he is totally different from Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging...that's for sure...haha...Chloe Moretz (last seen in 500 Days of Summer) acts as Hit-Girl who almost steal the entire show from Kick Ass. She did a perfect job as a cruel assassins helping her dad to plot their revenge. Not gonna give out much here..haha...(She trained martial arts for 6 months to portray as Hit-Girl...Kudos for her)..Nicholas Cage portrays Big Daddy who I believe is half mad for training his own daughter to be a killer machine..haha..But he gave his performance of his life (of course....on par with Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans) which I believe he is back from making bad movies. and McLovin' is back as Red Mist...not gonna tell you about him..haha..and Mark Strong once again portrays a villain and a drug lord. I am not sure if there is any person who can play such gruesome villain as him. He portrayed villains in the recent Sherlock Holmes, Rock and Rolla, and even Body of Lies...Gosh...He will play villains for the rest of his career....
Overall...solid performance from the actors as well... TICK!

Director Matthew Vaughn once again deliver nice soundtrack for his movie after Layer Cake. The songs and score fits perfectly in this movie giving extra punch and emotion for the movie. Well Done. The action scenes are unbelieveably good as they are stylish, violent and exceptionally bold, beautiful and breathtaking. I am just wondering how good it is going to be if it is projected digitally. It's gonna be a big WOW!!...The cinematography is unbelieveable as well as there are a few scenes that eventually will really make you say WOW again...

The movie of course is not meant to be watch by "Kiddo" as they are very violent, sexual references mild graphic sex scene and scenes of masturbation....(blek.....don't worry..no scenes of ejaculation...haha)...But I am glad to see this movie as I say...this is an all-rounder...Before you enter the cinema hall, keep that in mind that this is a superhero movie which brings you less logic as you could think of...just like spider-man or batman...Don't expect it to be completely logic...if you want to be logic, BE YOUR OWN SUPERHERO!

I could keep writing on this review but I believe that I have to stop now or i will be ruin the movie watching experience..haha...Overall, this movie worth every penny of yours....It will make you laugh, serious and may even cry. It is an high octane action movie comes with solid performances and interesting plot. It comes to highly recommended from me and I would watch it again if there is any of them volunteer to watch with me..haha..
Rating: 10/10!!! (sorry, I really can't find any flaws in this movie because it is just plain perfect!)

Review: She's Out of My League

Hello, have not been blogging for more than a week and now I am back again. This time I am going to review a romantic comedy called she's out of my league starring Jay Baruchel and the ever gorgeous Alice Eve.

The story is simple. It's about a guy who had "defects" going out with a perfect girl where of course, it's kinda impossible in real life. So, this story is mainly about this two actors showing how they got hook up. In between, there would be some influence and obstacles....so...it's kinda predictable. The acting is good as Jay Baruchel acted as if he is really innocent. He was last seen in Tropic Thunder and he really deserve this role. Alice Eve...what can i say....she is gorgeous, sexy, elegant...and her body...phew...needless to say...she threw away her british accent and talk like a real american...isn't she a genius...??nah..maybe not...she is major in middle english..so...it might not be hard for her then..

The plot seems too predictable here and I believe you could guess the ending....yea...and this is an adult comedy..so expect it to be vulgar. The jokes are funny (at times I laugh out loud)...but some of them are quite lame...so...it's a hit and miss....(for example, the underwear jokes...lame...)

Overall, it is still a solid production deserve to be seen and have to congratule Jay and Alice for making such a cute couple in this movie!!! This movie is not meant for children as it has strong sexual references, language as well as nudity.

Rating: Suppose to be 6, but Alice Eve made it throught so it is a HARD 7/10!!

Movie Review Summary (January - March)

Time flies and it is almost the end of March ALREADY! yea and I have nothing much to write about my life as my life has been plain and simple (which I like...hate dramas)...haha..so I decided to share my movie experience with you guys.I will divide it into two categories which are movies watched in cinemas and some movies from other sources (ahem!)...and not forgotten the most valuable ratings and review summary (AHEM again..)for each of the movies. I really hope that you guys would bare with me because I have always wanted to be a movie critic and this is the best chance to see if you have the same movie taste with me or not...(which more than 90% of you disagree with me). Here goes the list:

Movies watched in Cinema:

1.) Valentine's Day 3/10 (Awfully produced, awful script, but solid performance though)

2.) Wolfman, The 4/10 (Strong performance dilluted with weak plots and unnecessary gore, Nice CGI though)

3.) Alice In the Wonderland 3D 6.5/10 (Strong performance and great special effects but not focus on plot)

Movies watched in other sources:

1) Surrogates 2/10 (Awfully done, awful performance from Bruce Willis, great CGI though)

2) A Perfect Getaway 7/10 ( unusual thriller packed with twisting plot, gripping and unforgettable ending)

3) Where the Wild Things Are 7/10 ( great work from Spike Jones with great CGI but came in an unusual pace)

4) Whip It! 8/10 ( great directorial debut for Drew Barrymore...Roller dearby has never look this good and anchored by the powerful and mesmerizing performance by the lovely and cute Ellen Page)

5) Invention of Lying, The 6/10 (Creative and funny but not the best from Ricky Gervais. Might be funny at first but feels annoying an couldn't wait for the end of it)

6) Food.Inc 10/10!!!! (A must watch documentary where you need to know where your food came from and how you should eat!)

7) It's Complicated 6/10 ( Strong performance by the 3 actors overshadowed by the miserable plot)

8) Saw VI 6.5/10 ( For me it's second best after SAW 1. Finally it comes with a story and not just torturing people without logical reason)

9) Law Abiding Citizen 6/10 (Strong performance from Gerald Butler but the movie tried to be clever and failed due to the familiar and illogical plot)

10) Couples Retreat 1/10 ( Way too awful to review...have no idea where to start...Awfully done from start to bottom...)

11) Michael Jackson's This Is It 7.5/10 ( A best way to pay tribute to MJ and a nice documentary concert as well!)

12) Jennifer's Body 6/10 ( Awful performance from Megan Fox....but at least the plot is fresh)

13) Fantastic Mr. Fox, The 9/10 ( Paul WS Anderson's vision on this movie has been wonderful...Strong performance..or should say voice and action by all the actors and not forgettingto mention that it is a very very cute movie!)

14) From Paris with Love 4/10 (A sublime and predictable plot powered by the strong performance of John travolta)

15) Poker King 1/10 (What an awful HK movie with bad acting...bad script, used too much slapstick....but made it a bit watchable by putting a few gorgeous girl...the title itself is awful....)

16) Black Dynamite 8/10 (Yea, it's a true blaxsploitation movie powered by the performance of Michael Jay White, it's funny, clever though the plot is familiar..but it is still kick ass!)

There you go, all the movies i had watched are reviewed here. Now, let me list out the most anticipated movie where the 1st would be the most anticipated:
